  • 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM - Welcome & Breakfast
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Advanced C-Leg 4 Training
  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Lunch Break
  • 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM - Microprocessor Feet Training

A.M. Course (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM)


Advanced C-Leg 4 Training: Gaining a Deeper Understanding of the Technology and Its Function

This course is designed for practitioners interested in understanding and learning in detail the precise sensor technology of the C-Leg 4. A complete explanation of the features, benefits, sensor technology, alignment, programming and training users to maximize functional results will be covered in this course.


Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the features and benefits provided by the original C-Leg and the C-Leg 4
  • Describe the internal sensor technology and what it does for the user
  • Explain the correct bench, static and dynamic alignment procedures for the C-Leg 4
  • Identify the critical steps in programming the knees
  • Perform the appropriate adjustments for a successful fitting
  • Program additional modes, use the new cockpit app or remote control and collect an activity report for the user
  • Instruct the patient and physical therapist on the basic training steps necessary for successful ambulation.

Beyond Microprocessor Feet: Understanding All Your Options to Improve Gait

This course is designed for practitioners interested in learning about the latest microprocessor and powered foot technology for their lower limb patients. The course will review microprocessor feet, including the Triton Smart Ankle, the Meridium, and, and the emPower foot for the transtibial and transfemoral user. An overview of the features, benefits, alignment, programming and training users to maximize results will be covered in this 4 hour course.


Agenda:

  • Introduction to Microprocessor Feet (MPF)
  • Overview of the Triton Smart Ankle MPF
  • Overview of the Meridium MPF
  • Overview of the emPower MPF
  • Prosthetic knees and MPFs
  • Gait training and physical therapy resources


Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course the participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the features and benefits provided by the Triton Smart Ankle, Meridium, and emPower MPF versus other MPF mechanisms.
  • Describe the alignment procedures.
  • Identify the critical steps in programming the feet.
  • Perform the appropriate adjustments to each MPF for successful fitting.
  • Instruct the patient and physical therapist on the basic training steps necessary for successful ambulation.

Credits:

  • 8 (s) ABC CEUs for the entire day OR 4 (s) ABC CEUs for a half day
  • CPs, CPAs, and CTPs will receive Category I ABC CEUs. All other certifications will receive Category II CEUs.

Presenter: Mark Edwards, CP, MHPE

Mark Edwards is the Director of Professional and Clinical Services for Ottobock North America. He was formerly the Director of Prosthetics Education at Northwestern University’s Prosthetics-Orthotics Center. He has his Master’s degree in Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has been certified in prosthetics by the American Board for Certification since 1985.
